What is the difference between the CSR file and the .cer file?

The certificate signing request, the CSR, comes from Passcreator, and the certificate, the .cer file, comes from Apple. Download the CSR in Passcreator and upload it in the Apple Developer portal to create the certificate. Then download the .cer file from Apple and upload it to Passcreator.
