Testing push notifications

Test push notifications on your own phone before you publish changes to all pass holders of a template. Update a single test pass, or work on a copy of the template. Both ways show you the notification without touching the passes of your customers.

Steps

Test by updating a single pass

Create a test pass of your template and save it on your own phone. Then update only that pass as described in Updating a single pass.

  1. Go to Passes in the sidebar and find your test pass.
  2. Click the pen icon Edit, change a personalized value and click Save.
  3. Check the push notification that arrives on your phone.

When you update a single pass, Passcreator also pushes changes to fields that are not personalized, including unpublished template changes. So you can test how a template change looks as a notification by updating only the one pass on your device. You publish nothing to your other pass holders.

Test with a copy of your template

You can also test on a completely separate template.

  1. Go to Templates in the sidebar, open the New Template dropdown and choose Copy existing....
  2. Select your template as the source and complete the Copy Template wizard. Passcreator copies all settings, the design and the fields. See Copying a template.
  3. Create a pass from the copy and save it on your phone.
  4. Make your changes in the editor of the copy, save and publish them, and check the notification on your device.
  5. Once everything looks right, make the same changes to the original template and publish them there. This pushes the changes to all pass holders.
