Samkaup operates 21 Netto grocery stores in Iceland. When the company upgraded its ERP and POS systems, the gift card program had to move with them. Until then it ran on physical cards in a legacy system.

Samkaup wanted four things. More gift cards sold online, without losing the sales of physical cards in store. The old gift card database moved into the new system. A switch that customers would hardly notice. And a back office with targeted communication to card holders.

The solution is one gift card program across every channel

With the Passcreator Retail Suite, Samkaup improved its online sales process, set up a new gift card database and launched gift cards without an expiry date. The team manages all passes in one place, whether customers bought them online or at the till.

Customers keep their pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The balance is always up to date, and the pass is on the phone when they stand at the checkout.

Implementation with ERP and POS in real time

Samkaup moved the existing plastic cards from the old POS system into the new one through the Retail Suite back office. Every pass is synced with ERP and POS in real time, so the balance is correct at every Netto till. Promotions for the gift cards without an expiry date started right after the switch.

The outcome is better insight and more visits to the stores

• Push notifications in the Wallet carry pass details and promotions.
• Customers get a hint about Netto stores nearby, which brings them in to redeem their pass.
