Óskaskrín: experience gift cards with automatic partner settlement

The challenge was scaling corporate gifting without more manual work

Competition for electronic gift cards in Iceland was growing. Óskaskrín needed a B2B solution that could scale fast for corporate gifting. Companies wanted a quick and reliable way to send gifts to employees and contractors, also through third-party retailers.

At the same time, activating passes, tracking redemptions and paying partner venues were manual tasks. That took a lot of work, made reconciliation hard and slowed growth.

The solution automates gift cards from sale to settlement

With the Passcreator Retail Suite, Óskaskrín sells electronic gift cards to business customers and distributes them through partner retailers. Passes bought online are activated automatically and delivered straight to the Wallet. When a pass is redeemed, the hotel or restaurant is paid automatically.

Óskaskrín also launched a new gift card product, gjafabref.is, on the same platform.

Implementation with POS systems and partner retailers

Electronic gift cards are sold online and land in the buyer's Wallet automatically. Boxed passes stay on sale through partner channels. POS systems and retailer networks are connected, so a pass is activated at purchase and redeemed at the partner venue without manual steps.

Hotels and restaurants are paid automatically on redemption, which cuts reconciliation work and improves cash flow. Employees and contractors receive Wallet passes for corporate gifts and project purchases.
