Kringlan Shopping Center enhances its gift card operations through Passcreator's Retail offering, enabling seamless electronic sales and redemptions across diverse POS systems. This integration that was performed by the Passcreator team in Iceland allows corporate clients to purchase gift cards in bulk, bypassing high transaction fees. With improved efficiency and customer satisfaction, Kringlan has positioned itself as a leading option for corporate gifting.
The implementation has significantly boosted sales, especially during the holiday season.

About Kringlan
Kringlan is Reykjavík’s largest shopping destination, home to 120+ retail stores, 20+ eateries, and a wide range of services. Centrally located, it offers a one-stop experience for shopping, dining, and entertainment - complete with amenities like a public library and a premium cinema - plus abundant parking for visitors.
 
Challenge
Modernizing gift card sales and redemption was complex because roughly 150 retailers and restaurants operated on different POS platforms. With no shared infrastructure, the program required careful coordination so every vendor could accept Passcreator's Gift Cards. This meant integrating with systems such as LS Retail, DK POS, Regla, Salescloud, and others, or deploying the Passcreator Retail POS app for iOS and Android to enable gift card redemption.
 
Solution
Kringlan transitioned from a rigid, legacy bank-led setup to Passcreator Retail, gaining the flexibility needed for digital gift card sales. The center now sells gift cards online via Passcreator Retail’s frontend, while corporate buyers can place bulk orders - for example, employee holiday gifts - with fast, fully electronic delivery.
 
Implementation
The rollout focused on equipping each participating store with compatible POS capabilities. Passcreator Retail was integrated across a variety of systems, enabling smooth in-store redemption. Kringlan's sales team can also schedule bulk electronic deliveries for B2B customers, improving convenience and saving significant time for corporate clients.
 
Outcome
Since adopting Passcreator Retail, Kringlan has increased gift card sales and elevated customer satisfaction. The center can now sell online while avoiding the high credit card transaction fees that previously affected retailers. The ability to support large corporate purchases—especially during the holidays - has strengthened Kringlan’s position as a go-to destination for gifting and driven a notable uplift in overall sales.
